Description Destination

The Einsiedeln monastery is a living place of faith. The Benedictine abbey in the beautiful canton of Schwyz is the largest pilgrimage site in Switzerland and home to around 40 Benedictine monks. There is a lot to discover in the impressive baroque monastery complex with its beautiful monastery church. There is also the Chapel of Grace, where the famous "Black Madonna" is venerated. The monastic community of Einsiedeln Monastery meets several times a day for communal prayer in the monastery church and carries out numerous tasks in school, pastoral care, hospitality, art and culture. It is particularly worthwhile to take part in a guided tour of the monastery, visit the monastery horse breeding facility, go on a scavenger hunt on the monastery grounds and, of course, attend a service in the monastery church. The large church also allows parents with small children to attend a service. Even restless children are absolutely no problem! The Benedictine monks warmly welcome all families!
