      The 8m long Plateosaurus, one of the first large dinosaurs - a highlight of the museum. The first evidence of this species was found in the area around Nuremberg in 1834!

    • The largest meteorite in Germany

      This meteorite is a unique find. It is the largest meteorite still preserved today that has been found on German soil, and also the only iron-nickel meteorite in Bavaria. It weighs around 80 kg and was officially named after the town of Untermässing, near which it was found.
      The meteorite can be admired at any time in the permanent exhibition of the Nuremberg Natural History Museum. And not only that, you can even touch it. Touching such an impressively large piece of extraterrestrial material is always something very special. It is even said to have healing powers. But everyone should try it out for themselves.
