Description Destination

The path begins at the foot of the castle hill opposite the Mareit parish church, leads north into untouched forest in the area of the Mareiter stream and ends west of the castle, at the existing castle pond. Various natural history "stations" have been set up along this path, where visitors are guided through nature - particularly interesting for children. From the bank of the stream to the gravel bank, forest and meadow, water and mossy ground, from anthills to small pools, from ponds to the forest telephone and a pavilion with various types of wood, there are various adventure worlds. You can then get up close and personal with nature on soft mossy ground! You can literally experience nature with all your senses!

    • Wolfsturn Castle

Wolfsthurn Castle stands on a hill above Mareit near Sterzing. In the 19th century, the Tyrolean historian Johann N. Tinkhauser claimed that it was the "most beautiful castle in Tyrol". The baroque complex has been owned by the Sternbach family since it was built and has housed the South Tyrolean State Museum of Hunting and Fishing since 1996. The museum displays the original state rooms and a rich cultural-historical collection on the history of hunting and fishing. The varied "Forest and Water" theme trail leads to the castle.
