Description Destination
The Sababurg Zoo is the oldest zoo in Germany that has been preserved in its original area to this day.
In 1571, Landgrave Wilhelm IV began to establish the zoo at the foot of his hunting lodge Sababurg. At the foot of the Sababurg - home of Sleeping Beauty - 80 different animal species live. The 130 hectare site is home to over 900 animals.
Whether it's the primeval wildlife park, children's zoo, bird of prey station or Arche Park with its own farm, there is a lot to experience, discover and learn at Sababurg Zoo: feed goats, rabbits, woolly guinea pigs or budgies, watch wild boar piglets playing, watch wild horses and white deer grazing or go in search of the shy wolves, wolverines and lynx. In the children's zoo there are some exotic animals such as ring-tailed lemurs, meerkats, kangaroos and Humboldt penguins!
The zoo museum also provides exciting insights into the history and everyday life of the zoo as well as interesting facts about the various animal species. And when hunger strikes, various gastronomic options are available.

Wunderschöner weitläufiger Tierpark
Wunderschöner weitläufiger Tierpark mit sehr vielen heimischen und einigen exotischen Arten. Mit kleineren Kindern kann man sich vorne im Kleintierbereich aufhalten, Erwachsene sollten unbedingt Zeit für die große Runde mitbringen. Dabei aber nicht die Flugschau der Falknerei verpassen!
Die vielen Feste und Veranstaltungen sind toll organisiert, aber ich komme am liebsten an einem ruhigen Tag, wenn das Wetter nicht ganz perfekt ist. Dann hat man fast das Gefühl, den Park für sich zu haben und hat viel mehr von den Tieren. Auch im Schnee ein Erlebnis.

Wilde Tiere in Urwald-Umgebung bewundern
Der Tierpark Sababurg ist toll gelegen und ist eine gepflegte Anlage, die liebevoll betrieben wird. Er beherbergt ein breites Spektrum an Tieren. Man muss allerdings gut zu Fuß sein, denn der Park ist sehr weitläufig. Hübsch anzusehen ist auch das "Dornröschenschloss" Sababurg, das hoch oben am Berg gelegen auf den Tierpark hinab blickt.
