Note: check before the trip whether the gorge is accessible!
First you go over wooden footbridges through the spectacular Wörschachklamm. The way back leads uphill along a forest path to the viewing bench in Kohlstatt. Before you get to the Wolkenstein castle ruins, you pass a sulphur spring and the Eselranch snack station. There are only a few paths that combine two such exciting highlights in one. Between the gorge and the ruins, the small intermediate destinations guarantee a quick progress. Really nice, absolutely!

      Wörschach Gorge

      Wooden footbridges lead through one of the most beautiful gorges in Austria. It's hard to believe. 200 years ago, horse-drawn carts were still driving through the gorge.

    • Sulphur spring

      A small wooden hut covers the sulphur spring. It is a cold sulphur spring that comes out of the mountain at 15 degrees Celsius. The water smells strongly of sulphur gases. But it is said to help with gout and rheumatic diseases.

      Lovely, child-friendly snack bar with a donkey pasture and llamas.

    • Wolkenstein Castle Ruins

      The castle was never taken. It fell into disrepair because a roof tax was introduced during the reign of Emperor Joseph II. The roof was dismantled and the castle unfortunately fell into disrepair.

    Wild, romantisch und ereignisreich

    Die spektakuläre Wörschachklamm ist ein Teil einer fantastischen Wanderung. Von der wilden Klamm kommt man zu einem romantischen Aussichtpunkt mit Bank. Anschließend geht es vorbei an einer Schwefelquelle und einer Jausenstation mit Eselranch zur Burgruine Wolkenstein. Viele Highlights verpackt in einer Tour, was will man mehr wenn man mit Kindern unterwegs ist?
