Description Destination

At the foot of the Nordkette, high above the roofs of the state capital of Tyrol, lies the Innsbruck Alpine Zoo (750 m) with its around 2000 Alpine animals from 150 species.

As a so-called "theme zoo", it offers the world's largest collection of animals from the Alpine region in natural-looking, partially walk-in enclosures, aquariums and terrariums. These include elk and bison, which were still native to Tyrol after the last ice age. The public's favorites, bear, wolf and lynx, are just as present as ibex, chamois and bearded vulture. Endangered domestic animal breeds are shown at the show farm, and the "bear children's playground" rounds off a successful visit to the Alpine Zoo for our little animal lovers!

    Overall impression
