Description Destination
The Duisitzkarsee - it is considered the natural jewel in the Rohrmooser Obertal. The lake is picturesquely surrounded by the mountain landscape in the Schladminger Tauern. The Fahrlechhütte and the Duisitzkarseehütte are located on the lake and offer regional delicacies.
The hike to the Duisitzkarsee leads from the alpine pasture of the Eschachalm over a beautifully laid out hiking trail through high forest and over 2 larger clearings to one of the most popular photo motifs in Styria. In the warm summer months, the lake also provides a welcome cooling off.
Directions
From the hiking portal at Eschachboden, take hiking trail no. 775 towards Duisitzkarsee. At the beginning, the hiking trail climbs quite steeply past the Seebach waterfall through the high forest to the Saghütten (not managed), which you reach after about 45 minutes. After a short rest, you continue along the hiking trail over the Kesslerboden - here the trail is a little less steep than at the beginning. From the Saghütten and the Kesslerboden there is a wonderful view of the end of the Obertal valley with Samspitze, Sandspitze, Zwerfenberg and Elendberg.
Above the Kesslerboden the path begins to climb a little steeper again. After a few serpentines through the forest, after another 30 minutes you reach the Duisitzkarsee with the Duisitzkarseehütte and the Fahrlechhütte. The Duisitzkarsee is a picturesque mountain lake and the hike is very suitable for the whole family.
Alternatively, the ascent and descent can also be made via a forest path.
