Description Destination
With 56 square kilometres, the Seiser Alm is the largest high alpine pasture in Europe. Between sunny altitudes of 1,800 and 2,300 meters, at the western entrance to the Dolomites — a UNESCO World Heritage Site since June 2009 — you will find one of the most fascinating natural and cultural landscapes. Above the towns of Castelrotto, Siusi, Fiè allo Sciliar and Tires allo Catinaccio, framed by the Dolomite peaks of the Sasso Lungo, Sassopiatto, Sciliar and Catinaccio, and blessed with 300 days of sunshine a year, it is an ideal destination for winter and summer sports enthusiasts, families with children, those seeking peace and quiet and connoisseurs.
In winter, the Seiser Alm is an El Dorado for active snow lovers. Together with the Val Gardena, it forms a shared ski region with 175 kilometres of slopes. They are part of the overall offering of Dolomiti Superski – the largest ski carousel in the world. The mostly flat, wide slopes of Europe's largest high alpine pasture are particularly suitable for recreational skiers and families. But cross-country skiers, hikers, snowshoe hikers and tobogganers are also spoiled in the Seiser Alm holiday region with breathtaking panoramas, excellent infrastructure and a large selection of rustic huts.
In summer, blooming mountain meadows, 450 kilometers of hiking trails and magnificent peaks, such as the legendary Schlern, the symbolic mountain of South Tyrol, beckon. The many sunny days and the wonderful landscape make the Seiser Alm and the area around the villages of Castelrotto, Siusi, Fiè allo Sciliar and Tires allo Catinaccio a dream terrain for outdoor sports enthusiasts, especially for bikers and runners. The “Running Park Seiser Alm” offers perfect conditions for altitude training on 20 balanced circular routes with a total length of around 180 kilometers.
