Unique exhibits in historic walls
The Weißwasser Glass Museum is the only one of its kind in Saxony and beyond in the eastern German states. It is located in the villa of the Gelsdorf family of entrepreneurs. Wilhelm Gelsdorf was the first to successfully operate a glassworks in Weißwasser in 1877.
The museum features:
- Lusatian glass from the 19th and 20th centuries
- Glass for science and technology
- Historical workshops and tools for glass production, glass processing and glass finishing
- Special collections by Prof. Wilhelm Wagenfeld, Friedrich Bundtzen and the designers
of the "Workshop for Glass Design"
- Diatret and Arsall glasses
- Special exhibitions on personalities, technologies and products
