Covering around 1,400 square meters indoors and over 14,000 square meters outdoors, the KLIMA ARENA in Sinsheim offers exciting exhibitions and hands-on stations on climate protection and sustainability.
Whether as a leisure and adventure location for families, groups or individual visitors, as an extracurricular learning location with a wide and varied range of activities for pupils and teachers, or as a forum for sustainability with numerous specialist lectures and events for interested specialist audiences, a visit to the KLIMA ARENA leaves a lasting impression in any case: The adventure location near Sinsheim inspires all target groups to reflect on climate change, the influence of us humans and our behavior in everyday life.
In total, the indoor exhibition includes four themed areas that can be explored by everyone from primary school children to adults in interactive formats and with a variety of easy-to-understand exhibits. The “Basics of Climate Change” section shows the causes and effects of climate change.
The KLIMA ARENA places particular emphasis on communicating solutions and options for action: Anyone who would like to find out about possible ways out of the climate crisis should start at the interactive “Climate Wall”. Afterwards, visitors will learn in the “space glider” how much our earth will change if emissions and thus temperatures continue to rise. This can also be experienced up close in the multimedia cinema with two virtual excursions: a trip to the Amazon region in the year 2100 and a “journey into the smart grid” – the energy system of the future.
Back from the future we return to the here and now: How do we actually live today? How climate-friendly are heating, hot water and lighting? The exhibition area “Living and Energy” deals with these currently particularly relevant topics. The KLIMA ARENA answers questions about sustainability by staying close to everyday topics: This of course also includes mobility, lifestyle and consumption. This makes it easy for young and old to take information and inspiration with them for their everyday lives.
The green and versatile outdoor area with its focus on natural living space and economic space is perfect for the warmer months: the theme park invites you to romp around with its playgrounds and to linger in the hammocks. Young and old explore nature here. The focus is on the one hand on the influence of humans on nature and biodiversity and on the other hand on the question of the extent to which the way in which existing land is managed contributes to climate change.
And if you want to get a little exercise and have some fun at the end, you should definitely stop by the electric go-kart track: Here you can race around the curves in a speedy car - but of course only for those who have diligently run to build up the necessary energy beforehand.
