Description Destination

In the Untertal, one of the most extraordinary hiking trails in the world shows our most valuable asset in all its facets over 14 km - from calmly glittering crystal clear to roaringly foaming in free fall over the rocks of the Schladminger Tauern. A unique nature experience that bears the titles “National Geographic hiking trail” and “most beautiful quality seal-certified tour” of the Austrian hiking villages.
In several stages or all at once (walking time approx. 6 hours) you can follow the Talbach on its adventurous way into the valley. Up close - sometimes directly above it - you can feel the power, the vitality, the irrepressible fascination of each individual drop. The ultimate “kick” comes in stage 4 – the 50 m long rope bridge “through hell” requires a little effort from even the bravest (forest path available as an alternative).
With the integration of the Rohrmooser Obertal, Wilde Wasser becomes Wilde Wasser². “Hoch zwei” is a symbol for the two Tauern valleys Untertal and Obertal. On the other hand, “hoch zwei” communicates the significant expansion of the overall wild water offering that is taking place in the Obertal.
When it comes to water experiences, the Obertal is in no way inferior to the Untertal. For example, in the area around the Nickel Museum - starting from the Hopfriesen hiking portal, a stroller-friendly, barrier-free circular hiking trail leads gently "back to nature". Around the Hopfriesen Nickel Museum, mining history is presented in a child-friendly way - and can be tried out. The area offers many opportunities for playing and romping around. Wild waters – in the form of the Giglach and Obertalbach streams – are audible, visible and tangible companions along the entire route. Further examples are the Giglachseen and the picturesque Duisitzkarsee. The other pages of www.wildewasser.at will tell you more.
