Description Destination
The visitor center, which opened on December 29, 2009, is a cube-shaped, two-story building made of papyrus-colored concrete in the center of St. Magdalena in Villnöß.
The Puez-Geisler Nature Park House has set itself the task of bringing nature closer to visitors and inviting them to linger. A walk-in aerial photograph allows visitors to view the nature park from a bird's eye view and gain detailed insights into the landscape.
The exhibition area "Touching the Mountains" focuses on the main theme of the nature park, the geology of the Dolomites. Here, representative types of rock and layers of the area are shown in their typical appearance. Stereoscopes installed on site allow a real view of the associated landscape. The "Nature Chamber of Wonders" on the second floor offers plenty of space for discoveries: bird nests, footprints, feathers, furs, antlers, to name just a few. The "Conquering Mountains" section presents mountaineering. Reinhold Messner, who comes from Villnöß and is probably the world's most famous mountaineer, tells of his experiences in the mountains in a short film. The "Puez-Geisler Nature Park Film" can be seen in the mountain cinema. This shows viewers the special features of the Puez-Geisler Nature Park in fantastic image sequences.

By public transport: Take the train to Klausen or Brixen and from there take the bus line 340 into the Villnöss Valley to St. Magdalena. From the "Vergin" bus stop at the beginning of St. Magdalena it is only a few minutes' walk to the Nature Park House. (Timetable information: www.sii.bz.it or by calling 840 000 471)
Car: Take the Villnöss road to St. Magdalena (SP 27). At the entrance to the town there is a sign on the left pointing to the Nature Park House car park.
