The Wasserkuppe is considered to be the most famous excursion destination in Hesse, because the view of the Rhön, the history of gliding and the leisure facilities around the Märchenwiesenhütte make Hesse's highest mountain the most famous landmark of the Rhön and thus also popular and well-known in the neighboring federal states of Thuringia and Bavaria.
OUR TOBOGGANING FUN IN THE SUMMER SEASON
Nestled in the beautiful landscape of the Rhön, the Wasserkuppe ski and toboggan arena offers a natural, unique leisure experience where tobogganing, views and adventure are very important. This makes the ski and toboggan arena different from conventional amusement parks and more reminiscent of large alpine adventure mountains. Three toboggan runs, the Wie-Li and the Hexenbesen ensure plenty of fun, the climbing forest provides a sense of adventure and a pinch of thrills, and in the modern mountain restaurant “Märchenwiesenhütte” visitors can enjoy the breathtaking view of the Rhön. On weekends and public holidays, a varied and very inexpensive brunch buffet is offered so that you can comfortably start a day full of outdoor fun and relaxation. The three summer toboggan runs include the Doppelmuldenbahn and the Rhönbob, the toboggan run on rails. Things are more leisurely in the Wie-Li, which is why families with small children and the grandparents' generation especially appreciate and enjoy the relaxing tour through the forest. For small children, there is a variety of play equipment such as slides, climbing frames and the marble run on the site between the climbing park and the fairy tale meadow hut. The older children love the freefall slide, the Luna Loop and the family-friendly climbing forest, where you can climb through 8 different climbing courses at different heights.
The variety of leisure activities makes the Wasserkuppe a year-round destination, both for an unforgettable day trip and for an entertaining weekend trip to the Rhön, the land of open spaces.
