If you ask outsiders what they know from Mozart, the answer is: “Eine kleine Nachtmusik”. And the insiders laugh at the outsiders because they mention this work first. For many, “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” is the epitome of Mozart’s art. The Salzburg master’s piece of all time. What is the appeal of this work and why do so many people know it? The topic is understandable for everyone, clear and clearly defined. The melodic theme appeals immediately. : “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” is one of Mozart’s great works. It is, like many of his works, conceived and composed with a light but happy hand.
We don’t even know “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” completely. The first minuet and the trio remain unknown to us. No copy of the time gives us the minuet and trio. The first edition was published 36 years after Mozart’s death. It was only during the Second World War that Mozart’s own writing came to light again. Today almost everyone knows her.
Text by Rodulph Angermüller
The Schönbrunn Palace Marionette Theatre has rehearsed a ballet based on this piece. Leonard Salaz staged the ballet in a playful and fairytale-like manner. The “Eine kleine Nachtmusik” is a dream, light and upbeat, like the musical original. Imaginative and sensitive. A romantic dream, regardless of language and age.
Own production with the Orchestra Cis under the direction of Prof. Jürgen Geise. Playing time 30 minutes.
