In 2008, the German Teddy Bear Museum was founded in the heart of the toy town of Sonneberg (Thuringia), in the pedestrian zone. It is hard to miss because a 3.40m tall teddy bear greets its guests through the shop window. If he were standing, he would be 5.60m tall, making him the largest teddy bear in the world according to the Guinness Book of Records.
The Teddy Bear Museum offers not only the largest but also the smallest teddy bear in the world and countless other teddy bear friends. In the “Room of 1000 Teddy Bears” you can follow the development of the fluffy playmates from the past to the present day, or you can have your photo taken with the “Bear Mafia” at the conference table.
If you feel like it, you can even stuff your own teddy bear in the craft room! Making teddy bears with us is always an experience for young and old, and everyone is happy when they can take their own teddy bear + birth certificate home with them.
The family-run store offers all teddy bear lovers a large selection of traditional wood wool bears, soft-stuffed teddy bears, limited edition artist bears, miniature bears, key rings and teddy craft sets.
The entrance fee for the museum is 3€ per person for children and adults.
