Description Destination
The historic Kuffner Observatory from the 19th century, located on the western outskirts of Vienna, impressively demonstrates how astronomy research was carried out more than 125 years ago. Thanks to the good state of preservation of the historic instruments, it is still possible to observe the night sky as it was back then. The faithfully restored astronomical instruments and the flair of the historic building offer visitors a special experience.
What happens in an observatory? In contrast to the planetarium, when the weather is good, we use telescopes to look directly at the stars and planets in the real sky. Here we discover gas eruptions on the sun, observe the moon with its craters, the planets of our solar system and the world of stars and galaxies. Private tours, children's birthdays, company events and weddings in a very special setting round off the offer of the historic observatory.
