Description Destination
Founded in 2005, the Fundaziun Nairs is a synthesis of artists' house, art gallery and cultural laboratory. It connects the Engadin with other cultures of the world. As part of her international artists-in-residence program, she invites around 30 artists selected by a jury each year to spend several months in her studio. The foundation promotes dialogue and cooperation between different art disciplines. The art gallery shows contemporary art in historically significant exhibition spaces and is dedicated to contemporary issues. The cultural laboratory is committed to the communication and further development of local Romansh culture and realizes a variety of projects.
Nairs has been exploring and communicating contemporary issues for more than 30 years. The art gallery offers ideal space for this on three floors. With exhibitions of renowned Swiss and international positions, the Kunsthalle Nairs intervenes as a constructive-critical voice in ongoing discourses and mediates between art, science and society.
It is not only an exhibition space, but also a workshop and think tank for committed art. Here, art can be experienced as a cooperative process and in dialogue.
