Heiligenkreuz Abbey is the mystical heart of the Vienna Woods,
only 15 km from Vienna and is a symphony of art, culture and mysticism.
The large medieval monastery complex includes the Romanesque abbey church,
the Gothic cloister with well house, the chapter house and the mortuary chapel.
The abbey is the most popular tourist destination in the Vienna Woods and attracts thousands of guests every year.
The young Cistercians are world famous for their Gregorian chant (CD "Chant - Music for Paradise"). This monastery has existed without interruption since 1133 and today, with over 100 monks, is experiencing a flourishing like never before in its history. In this spiritual place of power, Romanesque, Gothic, Baroque and modern combine with the spiritual wealth of a lively religious community.
