Signpost no. 12 leads from the village center towards Missian | Eppan at the Gothic church tower of St. Pauls | Passed Eppan. Shortly before reaching Korb Castle, there is a signpost with a pictogram for the castle hike, which we now follow. Bush forest and beautiful views of the regional capital Bolzano and the Dolomites enrich the pleasant hiking trail. After the short, somewhat steep final climb, you reach Hocheppan Castle, which sits majestically on a rock, in a total of two hours. The route onwards is a bit more adventurous, but well signposted. A narrow path leads over porphyry stones, somewhat exposed, down into the gorge of the Hocheppanertal. Approximately 60 meters of secured metal steps take you to the other side of the gorge towards the Boymont castle ruins. Shortly on the forest path heading south (ignore the turnoff to the right to Perdonig | Eppan), the castle sign shows the way down over loose rocks to a steep asphalt road. After about 10 minutes of climbing you reach the ruins of Boymont Castle, which offers a wonderful view. For the return journey, walk back down the asphalt road to the fruit trees and vineyards, from where you take the ascent path back to St. Pauls | Eppan goes. The hike becomes a slightly longer circular hike if you follow signpost no. 8/A from the Boymont castle ruins. This path leads
via the Gasthof Kreuzstein back to St. Pauls | Appiano.
