Michael Casanova, project manager for water protection and energy policy at Pro Natura Switzerland, presents how Switzerland's energy landscape has changed since Fukushima and how it must continue to change in the future. He explains Switzerland's latest political decisions on the expansion of renewable energies and how this expansion can be achieved in a way that is compatible with nature.
Armando Lenz, Managing Director of Pro Natura Graubünden, then explains the situation in Graubünden. What are the canton’s plans for the expansion of renewable energies, how environmentally friendly are they and how could these solutions be optimized? The energy expansion targets for the canton of Graubünden are far too high. We already produce eight times more energy than we consume in GR. We have to ask ourselves whether we want to develop into a pure energy production canton in the future or whether there should also be room for tourism, agriculture, population, intact landscapes and untouched nature. We are therefore very critical of the hydropower and wind power expansion projects.
Afterwards we will have time for a stimulating discussion.
The lecture will take place after the Pro Natura general meeting, but it is open to everyone.
