Description Destination

The timeline trail will soon be expanded to become the Attersee pile dwelling time journey and will be equipped with additional play stations and highlights. This trail will then be one of nine adventure hiking trails included in our adventure hiking pass. Look forward to it!

In addition to the pile-dwelling pavilions near the Ager Bridge in Seewalchen, in Attersee and in Mondsee, the timeline trail on Seewalchen’s school path also deals with the long history of our homeland.
Since 2012, the secondary school/new middle school Seewalchen has been working on the annual project “Pile dwellings in the lake area”. The aim was to introduce school children to the pile dwellings, life at that time, the people, their living conditions and opportunities.
The project was initiated by Cyril Dworsky (Pfahlbau Board) and Gerald Egger. It was also the Pfahlbau Board of Trustees that played a leading role in its realization and actively participated in various school activities. The commitment of Mag. Helena Novak and Dr. Lieselore Meyer deserves special mention. The Pfahlbau Board of Trustees also contributed a significant portion of the costs.
After the children were introduced to pile dwelling topics from the perspective of various subject areas in school lessons, a final project week followed at the beginning of October 2013. Here the students learned, for example: B. grain was processed. Other topics included: baking bread, herbal cooking, processing and dyeing wool, spinning and weaving, weaving walls, making fire, making stone tools, preparing molds for bronze casting, bronze casting (with the experimental archaeologist Michael Konrad), making musical instruments, the work of archaeologists, gluing ceramics, diving physics, archery, games from the pile dwelling period and building a pile dwelling model.
