Description Destination
Up high on the island of Usedom – that’s exactly what you can do on the treetop path in the Baltic Sea resort of Heringsdorf. The start is about 15 meters above the forest floor. The wooden walkway winds through the forest. Several learning stations along the path provide information about the native flora and fauna, as well as the geography and history of the island of Usedom. After the first few meters, the fresh sea breeze blows around the guests’ noses. At the adventure stations, everyone can test their ability to cope with heights. For those with wobbly knees, there is of course a safe path past the balancing elements.
The 33-meter-high observation tower can already be seen between the trees. This wooden construction spirals upwards nine floors – without any steps. Anyone who makes it to the top will be rewarded with a fantastic panoramic view of the island of Usedom and the Baltic Sea coast. On clear days, the view extends to the island of Rügen as well as the German and Polish mainland. Up here, 75 metres above sea level, a test of courage awaits all height conquerors.
After a walk along the path, a small shop and the in-house restaurant “Futterkrippe” invite you to linger. The little guests can let off steam on the playground next to the beer garden.
