Description Destination

South of Breisach's old town, there is a small hill covered in vines, from which you have a wonderful view of the town, the market square and the Münsterberg. There used to be a castle and a small monastery on it.

According to legend, the 'Faithful Eckehart' owned a castle on the hill opposite Breisach's Münsterberg. The fortifications on today's viewing terrace were demolished in the middle of the 18th century.

The monument in the form of an obelisk, erected in 1856, commemorates the transition of Breisach and the Breisgau to the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1806. The European flag and European light are symbols of the European city of Breisach.
