The majestic Hochosterwitz Castle towers on a 150m high limestone cliff, making it clearly visible from a long distance.
The history of the castle goes back to the year 860 and it could never be conquered as a defensive structure thanks to its 14 gates.
A visit to the imposing Hochosterwitz Castle is particularly suitable for families. Since 2017, the complex can be explored using a modern cable car.
The castle courtyard houses the castle museum with its collection of armor and weapons as well as a picture gallery that brings the history of Hochosterwitz Castle closer to visitors. After exploring the castle complex, you can fortify yourself for the descent in our castle restaurant. There are also numerous events and festivals around the castle complex.
