Andeck Castle was first mentioned in 1282, when a branch of the Zollern Schenken family took possession here. In addition to Andeck Castle and the cattle pasture on the Farrenberg, the village of Talheim also belonged to this property. By 1400, the noble family, which had already divided Andeck Castle and its accessories among relatives around 1340 or sold individual shares to non-relatives, became impoverished. Around 1437, the Schenken von Andeck disappeared from the castle because of its dilapidated condition and moved to the "Dorfschlößle", between Albstraße and Kreuzstraße in Talheim. From this time on they called themselves "Schenken von Talheim".
Of the multi-part Andeck Castle - located on a long spur protruding east-southeast on the south side of the Farrenberg - only very few remains of the surrounding walls and building walls of the main castle are visible today. There is a public barbecue area below the ruins.
The ruins are accessible via a narrow hiking trail - either from the barbecue area "Unter Andeck" or from the plateau of the Farrenberg.

    From Talheim, take Andeckalle and Farrenbergweg up to the "Unter Andeck" hiking car park. From there, walk along the hiking trail marked with a blue triangle south of the Unter Andeck barbecue area up to the ruins (approx. 80 meters in altitude, not suitable for strollers).
    The barbecue area is located at the bend in the road approx. 200 meters before the car park.
