The theme trail “Knottnkino³” connects Vöran’s red landmarks: the three porphyry rocks Rotstein-, Beimstein-, and Timpfler Knott. At all three “Knottn” there is an open-air cinema and artistic rest areas where you can enjoy the view and relax.
The viewing point with 30 cinema seats made of steel and chestnut wood invites hikers to take a seat, relax and enjoy the unique view as if in a natural cinema. From here you can overlook the entire Etschtal valley and enjoy the overwhelming view from the Texel group to the Penegal and further to the Weißhorn.
“Knottn” means “rock” in the South Tyrolean dialect. Millions of years ago, when the Tschögglberg was formed by lava and ash rain, these wine-red, round peaks were created. These rock formations are unique in South Tyrol, and three of them can be found in Vöran: the Rotstein, the Beimstein and the Unterstein Knott.
The architectural team Verena and David Messner designed the three new stations. The starting and end point of the new circular hiking trail, which focuses on Vöran, is the mountain station of the Burgstall-Vöran cable car and the new playground there. The circular hiking trail was created by the municipality of Vöran as part of the EU Leader project. Hike and marvel like in the cinema!

    With the Burgstall-Vöran cable car: Take the MEBO (Merano-Bozen expressway) to the Lana South exit, then towards Burgstall, continue right along the Romstraße for about 1.5 km. The car park is right at the valley station of the cable car.

    By car: Take the MEBO (Merano-Bozen expressway) to the Merano South exit, then towards Merano, continue right towards Hafling and continue to Vöran. The car park is at the mountain station of the Burgstall-Vöran cable car.
