GURK CATHEDRAL
The Gurk Cathedral is one of the most famous monuments of sacred architecture of the 12th century and dates back to a foundation by St. Hemma. Through the collaboration of many well-known artists, this former bishop's church has become a total work of art representing different stylistic periods. The sights include the tomb of Hemma in the 100-column crypt (1174), the baroque high altar by Michael Hönel (1632), the Pieta by Raphael Donner (1741), the famous Lenten veil by Master Konrad (1458) and the uniquely preserved late Romanesque paintings in the Bishop's Chapel (1263).

TREASURE CHAMBER:
In its 10 rooms, the newly designed Diocesan Museum in Gurk provides a representative insight into the religious art of past eras in Carinthia. The exhibition highlights include the Magdalene Disc from Weitensfeld, the oldest document of stained glass in Austria (1160/70), the Höllein Crucifix (1170/80) and the Gurk Lenten Veil by Master Konrad (1458).
