Description Destination
The Waldshut city forest has a botanical peculiarity, namely a nature reserve with a large population of yew trees. To be more precise, with about 400 yew trees, it is the largest and most beautiful yew stand in southern Germany.
Since 2019 there has been an adventure trail near the game reserve and around the yew forest. Young and old can learn about the local forest on a 1.7 kilometer trail. What are the most common tree species? What does a forester actually do and what does sustainable forestry mean? How do I find out the height of a tree or what use is wood to us? And how is it that even dead trees are still important for the cycle of life? All these questions and more will be answered at the stations along the trail. You should plan about 1.5 hours to explore the adventure trail. A trip to the trail can also be perfectly combined with a visit to the game reserve. There are public toilets and a kiosk that offers snacks and drinks from 11 a.m. in spring and summer.
Parking spaces are available directly at the entrance to the trail. You can reach the car park by car from Waldshut's old town in 10 minutes. You can also reach the Eibenwald adventure trail on foot in about 45 minutes.

From Waldshut you can reach the adventure trail by following the Gurtweiler road to Gurtweil. After a short while you will see a crossroads where you turn right and follow the signs towards "Wildgehege". Shortly before the wildlife enclosure you will find a hiking car park where the entrance to the Eibenwald adventure trail is located.
