Description Destination

Hidden between vines, the Fürstenhäusle is located on a hill above Meersburg's old town. This gem, built around 1600, was the poet Annette von Droste-Hülshoff's creative retreat for many years. Even today, the Biedermeier furnishings and the audio and media stations provide a lively insight into her life and social environment.
With a breathtaking view, the garden and terrace invite visitors to linger: from there, the view sweeps over Meersburg's upper town with the baroque residence of the prince-bishops to Lake Constance and the peaks of the Alps. This made Annette von Droste-Hülshoff rave: "The view is almost too beautiful, i.e. too lively for me when it comes to the close-up and too limitless when it comes to the distant view," the famous poet wrote enthusiastically to her friend Elise Rüdiger.
