Description Destination

A must for all amateur researchers is the Glasenbachklamm in the municipality of Elsbethen in the south of Salzburg. The 3 km long educational trail leads along the Klausenbach past caves and sculptures that were made by the students of the HTL Kuchl themselves.
The gorge and its natural resources were used by people from an early stage. Arrowheads, knife blades, chisels and scrapers were found in the so-called "gypsy cave", which dates back to the Stone Age.
A rich exhibition of the finds from the Glasenbachklamm can be found in the Gunpowder Maker's Museum - e.g. a depiction of the "gypsy cave" and interesting facts about gunpowder making, which was practiced in Elsbethen until the 19th century.
In summer, you can splash around and cool off in the Klausenbach.
