Description Destination
In 2000, the municipality of St. Veit im Innkreis created a hedge nature trail with a length of approx. 500m in an extensive hedge network (2.5 km) in the village of Pudexing and has awarded the OÖ. Received the State Prize for Environment and Nature for this. The entire hedge network was planted by former mayor and honorary citizen Alois Haidenthaler. The hedge nature trail is very informatively signposted (in color) and describes various native shrub and tree species. In 2005, the hedge trail was extended by a 300m long hedge, where only fruit-bearing shrubs and trees were planted. In 2006, the hedge nature trail was made accessible by a footpath and equipped with an information point and rest area. The hedge nature trail is easily accessible on foot from the town of St. Veit via a circular hiking trail of about 2 km.
In 2018, the hedge nature trail was revitalized through a "Leader-Mitten im Innviertel - Project".
The attractiveness of the hedge trail was increased by the partial renewal of the planting. A reading pavilion was erected at the information point of the hedge nature trail. In this pavilion, books from the St. Veit im Innkreis library are made available to visitors to the hedge educational trail, thus encouraging families and children to become familiar with the medium of books. A symbiosis of "reading and nature" has been created. Reading in nature, accompanied by the twittering of birds, the rustling of leaves and the scent of flowers and fruits should be a motivation to read.
