Description Destination

Almost 2,000 years ago, the Romans extracted stones from the once molten lava of the Hohe Buche for a major project - the construction of the Moselle Bridge in Trier. Thanks to the "hidden" location of the volcano, numerous old quarries have been preserved to this day, giving insights into the working world of the Roman stone breakers. A circular route of around 7 km takes you - without any major inclines - into the volcanic crater and through the lava flow. Duration: approx. 2 to 2 1/2 hours.
