The Wood Museum has been located in the middle of the Murau wood district in St. Ruprecht ob Murau since 1988. A special place to learn everything about the fascinating raw material wood on more than 10,000 m² indoors and outdoors. In this real wood adventure world, you will realize that a museum does not have to be anything but "boring"! You can also learn a lot of interesting things here. What was the "Brocknlotter" used for or what purpose was part of the Christmas tree used for in the kitchen, which wood do wagon makers or coopers prefer, what does the balsam poplar smell like, how does larch pitch relieve coughs, what effects does the forest have on the climate and vice versa?...
Every year there are special exhibitions on "wood and forest topics", so our museum is always NEW and interesting.
