The Juppenwerkstatt Riefensberg is not just a house for traditional costume lovers. Visitors from all over the world can get an introduction to old textile crafts here.
The Bregenzerwald Juppe is one of the oldest traditional costumes in Europe. The deep black, stiff, shiny and pleated fabric used to make it is only produced in the Juppenwerkstatt Riefensberg using ancient finishing techniques. On glue day, the fabrics are laid out in the sun in front of the house to dry. The machines used to work on them are over 100 years old.
Many guests from the Bregenzerwald and the surrounding regions come as part of architecture excursions. Special exhibitions can be seen until October 31st.
