Even during his lifetime, Franz Joseph I was the highly esteemed father of the country and his wife Sisi was the most beautiful woman of her time. Their wedding marks the beginning of their fairytale…
South Tyrol belonged to the Austrian Empire and the Kingdom of Hungary until 1918. Discover the truth of the Empress, the era of the Emperor and experience the myth of this unique imperial couple through over 4,000 Habsburg objects on display.
In addition, inside the museum you can visit the spring grotto of Bad Egart - the oldest spa in Tyrol with its bathing culture, a Biedermeier kitchen, a corner shop, over 90 antique display cases with Art Nouveau, sacred items, dollhouses and doll stoves, Gothic tools, erotica, historicism, earthenware collection, musical instruments, minerals and fossils, shoemaking, wood carvings, local collections and thousands of folkloric antiques.
If you go to Bad Egart for the first time, you will be amazed at the huge number of “exhibits” that Uncle Taa has lovingly collected over the decades and the abundance of ideas with which he has arranged, built, painted, carved and illuminated his exhibits and architectural features. Bad Egart is the oldest spa in Tyrol. The spring has been used for drinking and bathing cures since 1430, but probably since Roman times.
There are over 35,000 objects to marvel at.
Open-air museum: You walk through a creative dream garden with art - culture - nature and lots of curiosities, sculptures - wood and stone masks, the Ötzi habitat with the first copy of the man from Similaun, house chapel with the original tower clock from the church tower in Lake Reschen, farmer's garden, snail farm, the historic K.u.K. Töll train station – with water tower and water crane and much more…
