As the Carinthian State Museum, it has been one of Klagenfurt's most beautiful historicist buildings since 1884, and as the kärnten.museum Klagenfurt, it has been one of Austria's most modern museums since 2022 - a Carinthian universal museum that chooses the change in living spaces, ideas and cultures as a guide for its narrative. From the “Lindwurm skull” to the Dionysus mosaic, from the Grossglockner relief to the Seven Shepherds sword, from the earliest traces of human settlement to the Anthropocene. This makes the journey of discovery through the regional and cultural history as well as the natural environment of Carinthia a vivid and pointed experience.

The kärnten.museum Klagenfurt offers exciting activities for all age groups. Ask about our games at the checkout! Our puzzles in different levels of difficulty ensure variety and fun. With the "I see something you don't see" game, you can explore the exhibits together with children in a playful way. Solutions are included in the booklet. The paint-by-numbers puzzle offers colorful entertainment, ideal for short visits, and can be colored in at the museum or at home. The treasure hunt invites older children to explore the museum and use a code to open the treasure chest at the cash desk to win a prize.
Our game selection changes, ask at the checkout for current offers. Boredom also has no chance for “Knorzl”, the invisible goblin from Radio Kärnten. He guides you through the museum with his smartphone!

The kärnten.museum Klagenfurt is located on the southern ring of Klagenfurt. There is a designated bus stop on Mießtaler Straße for coaches. Getting on and off, especially for wheelchair users, is ensured by specially marked parking spaces in front of the museum on Mießtaler Straße. The approach to the museum is paved and the path from the car park to the entrance is paved. This is very easy to walk on and can be used by wheelchairs. The paths are lit in the dark.
By bike: The bike path (Völkermarkter Ring/Museumgasse) leads directly past the kärnten.museum. There are bicycle parking spaces directly on Museumgasse (north and south).
By train and bus: ÖBB timetables - Klagenfurt Hauptbahnhof stop. The kärnten.museum is only a 10-minute walk from Klagenfurt main station/bus station.
By Klagenfurt Mobil (bus): from the main station/bus station lines 4, A and C, stop: Landesregierung.
