Description Destination

At the entrance to the Hohe Tauern National Park, in the mountaineering village of Hüttschlag, lies the Kreealm-Bichlhütte at 1,570 meters. It is the upper of the two Kreealmen and can be reached on foot in about 1.5 hours.

The alpine pasture area around the Kreealmen is among the most wildlife-rich and plant-rich areas in the Großarl Valley. This makes stopping at the mountain hut after a hike all the more enjoyable.

The hut owners treat hungry hikers to homemade delicacies such as a hearty snack, Kaiserschmarrn (shredded pancake), soup with various dumplings, or bacon with eggs. A small pond and a playground also provide fun and refreshment for younger hikers.

    You can either choose to hike from the Stockham car park towards the end of the valley. You have to take the turnoff to the left after the first bridge. There is a steep climb and then a gentle climb. Or you can take the hiking trail to the Kreealm. This also starts at the Stockham car park towards the end of the valley.
