The Kröllturmrunde ... all around it is not difficult! Observation platform and rest areas make the newly designed path at the Kröllturm varied and attractive.

Above Gargazon, the Kröllturm, which dates back to the Middle Ages, rises out of the forest. But the tower is not at the start of the path. From the village square in Gargazon, a guidance system leads hikers to the Kröllturmrunde, access to and a view of the waterfall included.

You shouldn't be in a hurry. The Kröllturmrunde is actually a pleasant hike for the whole family. There are rest areas along the path, some with loungers, others with seating. They are called "Halbweg", "Untermturm" and "Obernturm", and there are also rest areas with loungers at the old quarry.

    Directions

    Start: From the car park in Gargazon, walk past the upper church (parish church of the Sacred Heart), cross the main road and follow the signs for Aschlbach Waterfall - Kröllturm.
    The ascent begins on the outskirts of the village through a mixed forest (hiking trail no. 7), which repeatedly offers beautiful views of the Etschtal. You climb up a stone staircase and then again on a narrow footpath to the waterfall junction of the Aschler Bach.
    The short detour over the well-secured wooden bridges is very worthwhile. The water of the Aschler Bach roars 47 meters vertically into the gorge and whirls up fresh water vapor. A very impressive experience.

    Back on the hiking trail, after a short walk you reach the Kröllturm, a square tower.

    Return: the 3rd highlight of the short hike is the old quarry (hiking trail no. 7A), where you can still discover mined stone slabs. A short zigzag path takes you to the Gargazon houses and back to the starting point.
