Description Destination
A magical experience awaits visitors of all ages in the fairytale forest of Bad Breisig, a wooded area near the Rhine! The fairy tale forest, which opened in 1934, offers 12 fairy tales by the Brothers Grimm as well as an episode from Wilhelm Busch's Max and Moritz. The scenes in the individual houses are presented in a loving and child-friendly manner. The movable and talking figures are handcrafted based on designs from old fairy tale books. At the touch of a button, they tell a story from the respective fairy tale. Visitors will encounter Puss in Boots, Little Red Riding Hood, the Seven Dwarfs and many other fairytale characters.
Each cottage has a text panel, the “fairy tale trail”, which provides adult visitors with suggestions for a better and deeper understanding of the fairy tales – an understanding that the adults can then pass on to their (grand)children.
The natural, but well-maintained forest path leads up to the covered café terrace, where guests can enjoy the picturesque view of the Rhine, Arenfels Castle or the foothills of the Siebengebirge. Children have the opportunity to let off steam in a small playground. Our kiosk, which also houses the cash register, offers snacks/sweets and drinks of all kinds.
Following a visit to the fairytale forest, a walk on the Little Fairytale Trail, one of the numerous circular hiking trails in Bad Breisig, is worthwhile. The Little Fairy Tale Trail was created in cooperation with the Fairy Tale Forest Bad Breisig and was officially inaugurated in April 2022.
