Description Destination
The MMM Juval, housed in Reinhold Messner's private castle of the same name in Vinschgau, is dedicated to the myth of the mountain. Here you can see his extensive adventure library and Tibetan collection, a picture gallery of the holy mountains of the world, the mask collection from five continents, his expedition cellar, the unique exhibition on Gesar Ling, the Tantra room and Renaissance frescoes. The entire exhibition is explained by trained guides. There is also a small mountain animal park, farm products in the Schlosswirt inn, excellent wines in the Unterortl winery and a farm shop at the foot of the castle hill. Everyone leaves Juval Castle with strong impressions.

Car: From Merano towards Reschenpass along the SS38 road to the free Juval car park on the state road between Naturns and Staben. There is no parking available closer to the castle: for ecological reasons, please use the shuttle bus or walk.
Train: International train connections to Bolzano, Vinschgerbahn to Staben (from Staben station approx. 1.5 hours walk or approx. 15 minutes to the Juval car park/shuttle bus)
Shuttle bus: Runs daily except Wednesday from the car park to Schlosswirt Juval. From the last stop it is about a 15-minute walk to the castle. One way Euro 3,00 | Round trip Euro 5,00 | +39 335 1015276. www.juvalshuttle.com
Walk up to the museum
There are numerous hiking options to MMM Juval:
From Tschars follow the Waalweg along the trail marker 3 towards Juval Castle, walking time: approx. 1.5 hours
From Staben follow marker 1, which leads into the Schnalser Waalweg (marker 3), towards Juval Castle, walking time: approx. 1 hour
Following the Juvaler Straße (or taking the shuttle bus halfway) you reach the Ortlsteig at Unterortl in the direction of Schlosswirt Juval, walking time: approx. 1.5 hours
