Description Destination

The Ciäsa Granda, now an ethnographic museum, belongs to the Società Culturale. In 1952, the association's assembly decided to purchase it in order to create a cultural center. The "Stüa", the living room of the imposing patrician house built by Johannes della Stampa in the second half of the 16th century, is still used as a meeting room.

The Ciäsa Granda exhibits works by the world-famous Giacometti family of artists, by Varlin, and by other artists who spent part of their creative lives in the Bergell.

In the museum you can see realistic dioramas, reconstructions of workshops for various crafts and valuable documentation of domestic life in the valley.

Visitors thus gain a lively insight into the social, cultural and natural history of the Bergell and can also learn about its customs. During the summer months, the Ciäsa Granda holds exhibitions.
