Description Destination
The DIORAMA is a remarkable building: It showcases a lifelike, three-dimensional depiction of the Christmas story with over 470 carved figures in an area of over 80 square meters. The building was constructed specifically for the nativity scene and opened in 1954.
The nativity scene, created around 1930 by Ferdinand Pöttmesser of Innsbruck, is almost 100 years old. The Bavarian painter Bartholomäus Wappmannsberger and the sculptor Reinhold Zeller were responsible for the painting and sculptural representation of the scenes.
During Advent, private nativity scenes are also on display.
