Description Destination
The Torre Belvedere, or «al Castel» as the people of Bergell say, stands on top of the rocky ridge in the Maloja Glacier Pothole Reserve, where the terrain drops 350 metres from the Upper Engadine into the Val Bregaglia.
In 1953, Pro Natura was able to purchase the tower together with the surrounding mountain pine forest and the glacial potholes and establish a nature reserve. Today the tower is one of Switzerland's nature centers and is open to everyone. From the platform on the tower there is a breathtaking view of the Engadin and the Val Bregaglia.
On June 22, 2024, we opened the new exhibition “Alpine Diversity – Experience Biodiversity in the Torre Belvedere”. The exhibition takes you on an exciting journey through the diversity of life. On four floors you can look at the topic from different perspectives. Amazing and sometimes dramatic facts are presented; you can experience for yourself why it is important to preserve biodiversity and have the opportunity to make a contribution to preserving biodiversity. At the end, a spectacular view and the hiking trails in the surrounding nature reserve tempt you to enjoy our nature live.
