Description Destination

The Pretorio (Latin praetorium, official building) was the town hall from 1526, the seat of the criminal court for the entire valley, and the customs station and civil court for Sopra Porta (the upper part of the Bergell). The round tower, which can be seen from afar and was built in the 13th century, housed the prisons, and torture instruments can still be seen today. In the nearby clearing of Cudin, the macabre pillars of the gallows, where those convicted of witchcraft were executed, still stand today. On a guided tour you can learn more about the history, culture and customs of the valley.
