Description Destination
The journey through 7000 years of salt mining begins with the ride on the Salzbergbahn into the Hallstatt high valley. The path leads you along the prehistoric burial ground with a walk-in display grave to the miners' house, where the tours of the oldest salt mine in the world begin. Two long miners' slides, the underground salt lake and the ride on the mine train delight young and old. In the “Bronze Age Cinema”, 400 meters underground, archaeological research becomes exciting entertainment. The oldest wooden staircase in Europe, which was found in the mine, plays a central role. Back in daylight, the Rudolfsturm restaurant and the “Hallstatt Skywalk World Heritage View” viewing platform invite you to take a leisurely rest with a view. Back at the valley station of the Salzbergbahn in Hallstatt, a 220m² visitor center with a salt mine shop awaits you. We are looking forward to your visit!
