Experience the living past in our historic Birgel watermill! On selected days, the technology museum comes to life and takes you on a journey back in time to when mills, stationary engines and steam engines set the pace of progress.
Be amazed by the impressive variety of our fully functional machines: from the majestic steam engine, built in 1917, to the mechanical oil press, which has been pressing fresh oil for over 130 years, to the three-story grain mill, which forms the heart of the mill. Every detail tells a story of craftsmanship, ingenuity, and hard work.

    Car:
    From Cologne, take the A1 motorway towards Euskirchen until you reach the Blankenheim exit.
    Leave the motorway (Blankenheim exit) and turn right towards Stadtkyll – Trier. Take the B51 expressway until you reach the Stadtkyll – Kronenburg exit. Keep left here and in Stadtkyll turn left onto the B421 towards Daun. Passing through the village of Jünkerath, you will reach Birgel, where you will find our mill site directly on the right-hand side.
    From the direction of Koblenz or Trier via the A48 motorway
    Use the A48 Daun/Vulkaneifel exit here. From here, take the A1 towards Daun until the motorway ends. Turn right from here and after about 1km turn right again towards Stadtkyll. You will reach Birgel via the villages of Dreis, Oberehe, Walsdorf, and Hillesheim. In the village of Birgel, keep left towards Lissendorf. After about 200 m you will find our mill site on the right-hand side.
    Arrival by train:
    Lissendorf train station is located halfway between Cologne and Trier. From there you can reach us on foot after about 200 m in the direction of Birgel.
