Description Destination
The small moated castle Mittelweiherburg, built around 1570 in the source area of the Harder Dorfbach, was, after many changes of ownership (including the Deuring family, Kloster, Weingarten...), the cradle of the textile industry since 1794, the first fabric printing works of the manufacturer Samuel Vogel from Alsace.
Acquired in 1838 by the Swiss manufacturer Melchior Jenny for the company Jenny & Schindler, the fabric printing works was continued by Samuel Schindler after 1867.

1957 - 1962 first renovation and construction of a local history museum
Textile printing museum since 1997 with a focus on: form engraving - textile hand printing (film, digitalized reproduction of pattern books) and the social history of industrialization up to the 1930s.
All techniques of form engraving and printing are shown in the museum and explained in detail. But it is also about socio-political changes, power and wealth. It is about wages and wage gaps, about child labour in the early 19th century and the immigration of Trento workers in the late 19th century. It is about various workers' settlements and the not entirely untroubled relationship between migrants and locals, but also about general changes such as the founding of socialist and Catholic workers' associations.
It describes the first major ecological conflict that Vorarlberg experienced and the resulting dismissal of 150 workers. Finally, it deals with the painful decline of the largest company in the town, which directly or indirectly affected more than a thousand people.
