The traditional costume museum in the Greisinghaus - one of the most important non-state museums in Bavaria - presents the precious traditional costume of the Ochsenfurt district with its numerous gradations and variants. The most richly decorated costume in Lower Franconia is an expression of wealth, joy and sadness. In addition to the highest festive costume, the Marian image and also the everyday costume, accessories such as pearl gloves, prayer books, embroidered shoes and stockings with elaborate knitted patterns can be admired here.
High-quality fabrics such as cashmere, satin shawls, magnificent hats (tops) made of velvet and silk as well as magnificent garnet cross pendants testify to the prosperity of the farmers' wives. There is also sufficient space on the 2nd floor devoted to the topics of "laundry care", "production" and "traditional costume today". Would you like to try on a traditional costume yourself?
