On the Zwergerlweg in Steinbach am Attersee, many dwarves and other fairy tale characters such as Little Red Riding Hood and the wolf or the witch in the mill await curious little visitors on a path through the forest.
This family walk through the forest starts at the Auboden car park in Kaisigen. From there, take hiking trail no. 3 towards the field. The dwarf signpost Hansl-Mühle shows the way. Following the dwarves and fairy tale characters, you hike to the village of Feld. From there we go back via the Zwergerlweg.
If you want to walk this route as a circular route over just under 2 km in about an hour, it is best to start at the Steinbacher Hausmühle. From the mill you go directly up the old Großalmstraße, once you reach the top you turn right at the first opportunity onto the gravel path and follow this until you reach the Zwergerlweg sign. After the Zwergerlweg, turn right down into the village of Kaisigen and follow the quiet road down to the starting point Hausmühle. On the round trip you will pass by Cameroon sheep and, with luck, you might also spot a zebra, donkeys or alpacas.
The Zwergerlweg is not suitable for strollers as there are narrow passages, steps and roots on the path through the forest.
