Like pearls on a string, the lakes lie in one of Germany's most beautiful natural landscapes, around 65 km southeast of Berlin. The Scharmützelsee, which is around 13 km² in size, and the slightly smaller Storkower See are treasures of the Margraviate of Brandenburg. From a bird's eye view, these two lakes form an oversized V, with Storkow and Bad Saarow at the two upper ends and Wendisch Rietz at the lower tip. The mild climate and clear air make the region a perfect holiday and excursion destination, at any time of year and in any weather, for day tourists or long-term guests.
